The Opportunity:

This position is a part of AgeCare’s Education Services Team and collaborates with all Educators from all communities. The Education team is responsible for the development and ongoing maintenance of a comprehensive interdisciplinary education program, in keeping with Adult Learning principles, this program encompasses the educational needs of staff, residents, families, volunteers, students and the community. The Educator has both corporate and site responsibilities. The Educator is responsible for collaborating with community supports and professional, provincial and federal bodies to ensure education is evidence based.

This position is a Temporary Full Time role with an end date of September 30, 2019. The schedule is from Monday to Friday with occasional weekend and evening work.

About this Educator Role:

What you’ll do:

  • Make a true difference everyday by enriching the quality of life of our residents by teaching, coaching and mentoring our staff both one on one and in group settings
  • Use your leadership skills and strong clinical knowledge to promote best practices in the areas of dementia care, medication management, infection prevention and control, end of life care, fall prevention, etc.
  • Use your creativity and panache for research and emerging trends, collaborate and connect with other staff and educators internally and externally to bring innovative ideas to the work place
  • Help our Seniors Communities be best in class by taking an active role in ensuring our care standards meet or exceed audit and accreditation standards

What you’ll need:

  • Be an RN or Registered Psych Nurse, registered with, or eligible for registration with CARNA or CRPNA
  • 3 or more years continuing care/gerontology experience, being a CPR instructor would be an asset
  • Previous experience in education and quality management
  • Demonstrated success in mentoring, developing, leading care staff
