This is a full time position scheduled for day shifts including weekend days.  As this position is shared between both Long Term Care and Mental Health, candidates with experience in Mental Health are preferred.  The role will be split as 0.60 FTE in Mental Health and 0.40 FTE LTC for a combined full time role.

About this Recreation Therapist role:

What you’ll do:

  • Support our residents in having meaningful life experiences through the planning and implementation of a variety of recreational activities that are in alignment with their treatment goals
  • Ensure each resident is assessed to determine their needs, interests and abilities
  • Engage and inspire a team of Recreational Therapy Aides in being their best in their interaction with residents and other team members
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team conferences and communicate progress with family members

What you’ll need:

  • Completion of a Recreation Therapy program from a Canadian accredited post secondary institution
  • Registered with the Alberta Therapeutic Recreation Association
  • Previous recreation therapy experience in a health care facility preferred; experience in gerontology an asset
  • Must be fluent in English, both orally and in writing
  • Mental Health Experience preferred
