Admission Process

Alberta Publicly Funded Long Term Care

At AgeCare Glenmore, we welcome the opportunity to offer personal visits as part of your decision making process however all publicly funded continuing care service admissions, including Long Term Care and Supportive Living, are made by referrals from the Alberta Health Services.

To begin the admission process, you will need to request an assessment through your local Home Care Program. A Home Care health-care professional will meet with you to discuss your needs and conduct an in-home assessment that may include input from your family doctor, your family, and other health-care professionals. Together, you and your home care team will create a plan of care with the right mix of services to support your abilities and your lifestyle.

Who Qualifies for Publicly Funded Continuing Care in Alberta?

To qualify for publicly funded care  you must have residency status in the Province of Alberta which requires:

    • 10 consecutive years of residency in Canada at the time of application for care centre admission, or
    • 3 consecutive years residency in Alberta any time during your lifetime, or
    • 3 consecutive months residing in the Calgary Health Region prior to application
If you do not meet the above requirements and still wish to be admitted, AgeCare Glenmore offers a private pay option.
