The seeds for The Beverly Centre’s
long history were planted in 1956 when Norman Martin and
his older brother Edward opened a 15-bed nursing home across
from Calgary’s Holy Cross Hospital to serve convalescing
seniors.
In 1959, their mission continued with the
development of a 34-bed nursing home in the Bankview area
of Calgary. In 1971, this marked the construction of the innovative 144-bed Beverly
Nursing Home on the current Glenmore site that featured
multiple interior garden courtyards as well as bungalow style and
two-bed rooms that far exceeded industry standards at that
time.
In 1992 with a major renovation
and expansion, The Beverly Nursing Home was then opened as
The Beverly Centre in 1993. The new facility featured fully
carpeted hallways, residential-style furnishings, more private
rooms, smaller dining rooms and elegant gathering spaces
that created an intimate, home-like environment for our
residents.
In 2000-01, the new addition of The Beverly Centre Lake Midnapore began. This
impressive community followed the example of The Beverly Centre Glenmore with residential-style furnishing within a long term care centre setting, and an assisted-living
residence on a single, seven-acre site.
On September 1st, 2004, AgeCare purchased
The Beverly Centre Glenmore and The Beverly Centre Lake Midnapore. Today, both communities continue as leaders in seniors health.
The Beverly Centre Lake Midnapore now boosts 237 beds, with both funded and private pay Long Term Care, Assisted Living and "Designated Assisted Living" programs in place on this seven acre site. Unique to our community is the Adult Day Support Program and Oaks and Acorns Montessori Childcare. With all these diversified programs in place, The Beverly Centre Lake Midnapore can support a vibrant and healthy lifestyle for our residents both within our campus and for those who visit us - through our community based Adult Day Support Program.
