The AgeCare Coporate Team

Dr. Kabir Jivraj is the co-founder of AgeCare. His acute understanding of health care and the seniors market, combined with his extensive business acumen and experience, has been instrumental in the organization's success. Kabir served as the President of the Alberta Medical Association in 1996/1997 and received the Associations Medal of Distinguished Service in May 2000. He was also honoured in 2005 as one of the 100 Alberta Physicians of the Century by the Alberta Medical Association and the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta. Dr.
Jivraj has also served in various capacities at other organizations including the Honorary Treasurer of the Canadian Medical Association, Chair of the Board for the United Way of Calgary and area.

Between 1999 and 2002, Kabir was the Senior Vice-President and Chief Medical Officer at the Alberta Health Services - Calgary Health Region. He was also the Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine between 2000 and 2002. He has been a clinical professor at the University of Calgary, Faculty of Medicine since 2001 and has taught undergraduate and graduate students since 1988.

Chief Executive Officer

Dr. Hasmukh Patel is the co-founder of AgeCare and currently holds the position of Chief Executive Officer. His commitment to seniors and steadfast focus on providing the highest quality of care has been instrumental in AgeCare's success.

Hasmukh attained his medical degree in the United Kingdom before immigrating to Canada in 1987. He established his practice in family medicine in rural Alberta before moving to Medicine Hat in 1991 where he continued to practice family medicine. During this time, he was also a staff member at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital.

Recognizing the changes in demographics and the need for innovative seniors housing and care, Hasmukh co-founded AgeCare in 1998. Since then, he has been actively involved in the stewardship of this organization. He has been active in the Medicine Hat Rotary Club, and the Board of Governors for the Medicine Hat College and held the role of President, of the Alberta Continuing Care Association.

Chief Financial Officer

Kim has a strong background in health care field and is the AgeCare, Chief Financial Officer.

Prior to joining AgeCare, Kim spent 10 years with the Calgary Health Region, Alberta Health Services, as Director, Finance where she had responsibility for supervising the budgeting process, managing financial relationships with contracted providers including P3 arrangements, and developing funding models. Kim has experience in strategic and program planning, management consulting, and corporate banking.

Chief Operating Officer

Ali has a strong background in strategic development and operations in both the public and private health sector. He recently worked with the National Health Service in the UK as the Assistant Director the King's Health Partners Integrated Cancer Centre (ICC), where he was specifically responsible for Research and Development, IT and Funding.

Before joining ICC, Ali was consulting with McKinsey & Company, based in Montreal and London, primarily focusing on international health care system redesign. Ali has worked in hospitals and health authorities around the world, most notably in East Africa, the UK and Canada.

While in Calgary, Ali was also chosen as one of the youngest Top 40 under 40 in the city’s history.

Ali holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree from McGill, a certificate in Value Based Health Care Delivery from Harvard Business School and an MBA from INSEAD where he was selected as MBA student of the year.

Director, Health Services

Robin in responsible for health service excellence and major strategies relating to providing the highest standards of safe and compassionate care and services to all AgeCare residents and clients. She is accountable for the research and implementation of CCHSA, provincial and regional standards, clinical best practice programs; and total quality management of AgeCare.

Robin has been a Director, Administrator, and Director of Care within the Continuing Care sector for over ten years. She is the Canadian Council of Health Services Accreditation (CCHSA) lead for the organization. Her years of clinical experience range from acute care, family and sports medicine to a strong focus on seniors' care. In 1988, Robin was the primary care nurse for the Canadian Olympic Bob-Sled and Luge Teams.

Robin is an RN with a Bachelor's degree in Nursing from the University of Calgary. Over he past many years, Robin has been actively involved on many provincial working groups and regional quality service committees. She is currently an active member of the College & Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta, the Canadian Gerontology Nurses Association, and the Alberta Gerontology Nurses Association.

Director, Facility Services

Jon is accountable for all aspects of building operations and services at the numerous AgeCare facilities with the objective of creating a safe and comfortable home environment for all clients and residents.

He is in charge of overseeing our communities utilities, building and grounds maintenance, as well as energy management at all locations. Jon is also involved in the planning, acquisition, development, and commissioning of new sites and facilities.

Director, Human Resources

Iqbal is accountable for human resources and major initiatives aimed at achieving AgeCare's mandate of being the employer of choice and an industry leader in recruitment, retention, employee satisfaction and leadership development. He is also responsible for leading and facilitating the strategic planning agenda for AgeCare.

Iqbal brings twenty years of business and management experience in various disciplines, including ten years in the field of organization and people in development. His functional experiences include accounting, quality assurance, human resources, and occupational health and safety. Just prior to joining AgeCare, Iqbal served as a work-life success coach, performance consultant, and seminar leader. He is the author of three books, including "Performance Matters: Success at Work, Home, and Play."

Iqbal is a Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP). He has a Bachelor's degree in Finance & Economics from the University of Western Ontario, and a Master's degree in Business Administration from the University of Calgary. Iqbal has recently completed the Certificate in Organizational Values and Ethics from Carleton University. Since 2000, he has been a Faculty Member at Columbia College, Business Management Department.

Director, Sales, Marketing, Communications

Cathy brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in promoting seniors' communities, as well as other aspects of sales and communications. She has been in the field of seniors health for over 20 years - first starting her career at an AgeCare Long Term Care Centre in Calgary.

Since then Cathy has gone on from Long Term Care over to Retirement for the last 13 years. She was with Revera Retirement, a National seniors housing and home health provider for 32,000 seniors, as the Corporate Director of Regional Marketing, for Western Canada and was responsible for 20 residences within her portfolio. With Revera, Cathy also participated in the construction, activation and completion of several retirement residences and her region spanned Manitoba, Alberta and British Columbia.

Cathy has received provincial recognition for her service to seniors with "The Minister's Seniors Service Awards" which recognizes Albertans who have volunteered their time to make a difference in the lives of seniors. As well as, while at Revera, Cathy was recognized as a Revera National Leader in Innovation, by her peers.

Director, Finance

Eva Tse is accountable for the daily operation of finance and payroll functions at AgeCare. Her major responsibility is to establish and maintain effective, efficient and accurate accounting and payroll systems and integrating the related procedures at all facilities. She is also responsible for evaluating all processes and procedures continually and implementing appropriate controls and improvements.

Eva is a Certified General Accountant (CGA). She has over 20 years of accounting, finance and management experience in different industries including public practice, health care, airline telecommunication, construction and property management. Her breadth of experience and knowledge provide her with great insights and value in managing her functions and teams.
