Welcome to Walden Heights

Our vision for Walden Heights is to create a vibrant and comprehensive community where seniors are the focus and have a choice of housing, from condo's, rental apartments to supportive living units and memory care programs on site.

 

Opening Spring, 2012, Phase 1 - Supportive Living (4) -

Our Phase One is opening in the Spring of 2012, and will feature 87 Units of Supportive Living, through a program partnership with Alberta Health Services.  Seniors who would like to access this program will be assessed by Alberta Health Services and recommended for the community through AHS.

 

Opening Fall, 2012, Phase 2 - Supportive Living (4)

We are pleased to announce that AgeCare was granted an additional 80 Supportive Living (SL4) spaces through the Alberta Supportive Living Initiative. We look forward to the creation of these much need spaces and realization of a complete community that offers a holistic "aging in place" model.

 

Walden Heights Estate ~ Construction will begin Summer, 2012

Affordable Housing and Market Units ~ (Completion 2013)

We will also offer seniors apartments and affordable housing units in partnership with the Province of Alberta - Municipal Affairs and 44 units that are market rate.

"Market Rate" means tenants will not have to declare income levels in order to access the community. 

"Affordable Housing" means tenants will declare a certain income level and will be able to access an affordable housing program that means the units will have rents that are 15% below the average market rent.

Ground Breaking of their Newest Community

Walden Heights Supportive Living Community

With our partners, we celebrated our Ground Breaking with special guests;

Our newest community in Calgary is located in Walden, on the east side of McLeod Trail heading south. This location is ideal for the seniors as it is next to grocery shopping, a drug store, medical centre and all the amenities a person may hope for.

This community boasts 90 suites with well appointed amenities, dining rooms on each of the 4 floors.  Additionally, each floor will have its own balcony so residents can enjoy fresh air and the lovely views any time they like.

Walden Heights is also a LEEDS project, Leadership In Energy and Environmental Design which means it offers construction practices that support environmental health, as well as resident health.

It is designed to encompass strategies on energy efficiency, water efficiency, CO2 emission reduction, improved environment quality and the stewardship of resources.

A building becomes special when the residents move in!  AgeCare is known for its programs that feature inter-generational participation and we welcome a true sense of community by involving neighbouring schools and organization to join us in our communities.  We are a true partner in the communities where our buildings are located and we embrace our place in that neighbourhood!
