The Opportunity:

The Assistant Accountant, while independent, will work within a team environment with three other Assistant Accountants and will be responsible for accounting, budgeting, reconciliations, cash flow and operations of seniors care communities. This opportunity is focused on teamwork as it works with the whole accounting team of 11 people and will work with the administrative assistants/ receivable coordinators at each site.

About this temporary full time position:

What you’ll do:

  • Ensures accurate, timely and relevant monthly financial reporting and forecasting, reconciliations, and banking
  • Conduct ad hoc analysis and financial analysis
  • Monitor monthly activity and maintain a strong understanding of preparing month end and year-end working papers
  • Be able to locate, address and resolve discrepancies
  • Maintain, review and complete all general ledger reconciliations and balance sheet analysis, investigating and resolving account discrepancies
  • Assists in preparation of annual budgets and long-range plans based on past, present and expected operations
  • Responsible for ensuring the integrity of all financial systems and reporting and analysis

What you’ll need:

  • Post-secondary education in a recognized accounting/business program
  • Working towards a recognized Accounting Designation
  • Experience with Workday software is preferred
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience with full-cycle bookkeeping
  • Must be fluent in English, both orally and in writing
  • Demonstrated understanding of Financial Statement working papers and reconciliation
