The Opportunity:
The Resident Assessment Instrument (RAI) Coordinator is responsible for the overall administration, organization, education, co-ordination and implementation of the Minimum Data Set (MDS) for the interdisciplinary team. Provides supervision and assistance to the interdisciplinary team regarding MDS documentation. Oversees the development, co-ordination and file retention for the data submission process to the Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI).
The responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:
- Monitoring and providing on-site support to all RAI users in the residence;
- Participating in the planning and organization of the residence’s RAI process change;
- Attending related educational sessions;
- Communicating regularly with the RAI users and management team;
- Providing RAI-MDS 2.0 education and computer application training to all RAI users;
- Generating RAI-MDS 2.0 reports and facilitating their use in clinical and operational decision-making;
- Ensuring a resident assessment schedule is developed, completed, current, and accessible to all RAI users;
- Assisting RAI users to correctly code assessments and providing support for validation of coding;
- Working with RAI users to develop processes that ensures data accuracy, an efficient data collection process, assessment completion, and data utilization;
- Overseeing the development and coordination of the data submission process;
- Overseeing the RAI process according to residence policies, MOHLTC regulations, College Standards of Practise and interRAI requirements;
- Ensuring MDS assessments, resident assessment protocols, and care planning are completed in a timely manner;
- Liaising with the vendor to develop a training plan for RAI users in the residence;
- Providing the project team with an electronic submission of a Monthly Progress Report on the residence’s implementation progress;
- Completing and submitting all required RAI implementation assignments in a timely manner to the Project Support Centre;
- Providing ongoing leadership for education, data accuracy, data submission, and computer applications of the RAI
What You Will Need:
- Minimum of 3 years clinical, project leadership or managerial experience in Long Term Care, must also be a Registered Nurse (RN) or Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) – current member in good standing with the College of Nurses in your province;
- A sound knowledge and background in Long Term Care;
- A sound knowledge of the Long Term Care Act, Ministry of Health Long Term Care Program Standards, including documentation requirements.
