While the broader community moves into phase 3 of the British Columbia relaunch, our teams continue their diligent work to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all residents.
As Dr. Henry, Provincial Health Officer, and Adrian Dix, Minister of Health, stressed in a recent address that COVID-19 remains a threat, even as the province reopens. “We are in a unique and unusual time, and until we have an effective treatment or vaccine, COVID-19 will continue to circulate in our communities,” they said. “We need to keep our actions going to minimize any cases.”
In the past couple of weeks, we have unfortunately seen additional COVID-19 outbreaks in other continuing care facilities in the Lower Mainland. Our focus at AgeCare Harmony Court remains the care and protection of residents who are at higher risk for severe outcomes from the disease. We must continue to work together and stay vigilant in these efforts to remain COVID-19 free.
At AgeCare Harmony Court, we continue to operate under many of our outbreak protocols, ensure all staff are following the screening protocols, and are monitoring the situation closely to ensure we are doing everything possible to prevent a potential spread.
We know that the past 3 months have been immensely challenging for residents and their families and appreciate all the support and kindness shown in our efforts.
To prevent any potential spread from the community at large into our buildings, visiting inside our AgeCare communities remain restricted to one visitor who is attending to a resident who is dying. We understand that these restrictions have been difficult, but the decision was made to save lives.
We continue to encourage all our Harmony Court Care Centre family members to take advantage of our virtual visits led by our social work team. These visits will help you to stay connected with your loved one and give residents a much-needed sense of comfort and reassurance during this difficult time.
Virtual visits must be booked in advance to ensure staff are available to assist, and resident care needs can continue to be met. To ensure everyone has the opportunity to schedule a visit with their loved one, virtual visits will be limited to 30-minutes.
To sign-up for a virtual visit, please contact our Social Worker at jelliott@agecare.ca or 604-527-3314.
We have seen an increase in Harmony Court Estate residents and family visiting outside the building. As such, we want to share some guidelines to help keep you and your family safe during your visits:
To limit the number of people visiting at once and ensure appropriate physical-distancing can be maintained, our Recreation team is available to help schedule your outdoor in-person visits. If you would like to sign-up for one of these visits, please contact our Recreation team at hcrecreation@agecare.ca or 604-527-3328.
Thank you again for your continued support and for helping keep AgeCare Harmony Court COVID-19 free.
The need to stay active, intellectually stimulated, and socially connected never ends – even during these unprecedented times. Our recreation team is working hard to create engaging activities to enrich the mind, body, and spirit while ensuring residents can maintain appropriate physical distancing.
