Everyone is welcome to enjoy, care for and water our plants but be mindful that we don’t over water them. Also, Father’s Day is this month and we will be looking forward to celebrating all of the father figures in our lives with a Father’s Day lunch Wednesday June 14th. June is Stroke awareness month
What is stroke?
A stroke happens when blood stops flowing to any part of your brain, damaging brain cells. The effects of a stroke depend on the part of the brain that was damaged and the amount of damage done.
What are signs of a stroke?
Stroke is a medical emergency. Learn the signs. If you experience any of these signs, call 9-1-1 or your local emergency number immediately. Acting quickly can improve your survival and recovery. Do not drive to the hospital. An ambulance will get you to the best hospital for stroke care.
Prevention is key!
Prevention starts with knowing your risk. Nine in ten Canadians have at least one risk factor for stroke or heart disease. Almost 80% of premature stroke and heart disease can be prevented through healthy behaviors. That means that habits like eating healthy, being active and living smoke free, have a big impact on your health.
If you have any questions or concerns with the calendar please email Erin MacMillan at emacmillan@agecare.ca or call 403-873-2636
Looking forward to bringing in Summer with you all,
Erin
