AgeCare Midnapore Estate May 2017 Calendar/Newsletter Retirement Living

Hello Estate Residents, Welcome to June 2017! As I’m sure you’ve noticed, we’ve planted our summer flowers and they look great. Everyone is welcome to enjoy, care for and water our plants but be mindful that we don’t over water them. June 2nd we’ve planned a Surf N Turf Fest and pub night , so come out and enjoy some good food, great company and some East coast entertainment! Also, Father’s Day is this month and we will be looking forward to celebrating all of the father figures in our lives with a Father’s Day lunch Wednesday June 14th.  Please also take a glance through this month’s calendar and check out some of the great programs and outings that we have planned. Looking forward to a great month!

June is Stroke awareness month

What is stroke?

A stroke happens when blood stops flowing to any part of your brain, damaging brain cells. The effects of a stroke depend on the part of the brain that was damaged and the amount of damage done.

What are signs of a stroke?

Stroke is a medical emergency. Learn the signs. If you experience any of these signs, call 9-1-1 or your local emergency number immediately. Acting quickly can improve your survival and recovery. Do not drive to the hospital. An ambulance will get you to the best hospital for stroke care.

Prevention is key!

Prevention starts with knowing your risk. Nine in ten Canadians have at least one risk factor for stroke or heart disease. Almost 80% of premature stroke and heart disease can be  prevented through healthy behaviors. That means that habits like eating healthy, being active and living smoke free, have a big impact on your health.

Looking forward to bringing in Summer with you all,
