AgeCare Seton COVID-19 Weekly Update for June 12, 2020

Dear Residents and Families,

We remain committed to providing updates to our residents, families, and staff at AgeCare Seton. As such, we will be providing weekly updates to keep you all informed on what is happening at our community and organization-wide.

These weekly updates will include:

  1. Timely information and announcements – this week, we are covering planning for the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic.
  2. Recreation highlights, as the need to stay active, intellectually stimulated, and socially connected never ends – even during these unprecedented times.
  3. A weekly shout-out to celebrate the great work and activities happening at our community.

These updates will be sent by Friday each week. We hope that you find these weekly updates helpful. Thank you all for your continued support.

Sincerely,

Martha Neguse                                                 Shannon Sproate
Director of Care                                                General Manager

Hair Salon Re-Opening

On May 25, 2020, the Chief Medical Officer of Health (CMOH) advised that Hair Salons, including those in continuing care communities, can re-open.

As such, we are preparing to re-open our on-site salon under a new operator. More details will be shared soon, as we are undergoing the necessary final arrangements. For the safety of all residents and staff, salon services will be by appointment only and walk-ins will not be permitted.

Second Wave Pandemic Planning

As we move into a different stage of the COVID-19 pandemic, the AgeCare leadership team is currently planning for the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. This includes debriefing on our response during the first wave – what worked well, what could be improved – alongside new initiatives and research.

At AgeCare, we strive to be leaders in seniors care and are exploring new and creative approaches in the delivery of care and services during the pandemic. We remain committed to ensuring our pandemic plan is up to date and robust, so we will be able to continue to provide quality care and services during the second wave.

Weekly Shout-Out

Thank you to Mask Makers YYC for providing hand-made reusable masks to all our team members. Our staff were overjoyed with the variety of patterns and appreciative of the time the volunteers in this group took to make them.
