Residents will bundle up for our first Bus Outing of the month to The Burnaby Village Museum, December 8th, weather permitted. We will take a stroll around the village grounds, traditionally decorated for the season, warming back up at the end of the trip with some hot cocoa before heading back home. Our next trip will a Scenic Bus Tour around Lafarge Lake in Coquitlam. If it is a gloomy day we will be able to see the thousands of lights up around the lake. December 22nd we will leave in the evening for a Christmas light tour. We plan to head to Burnaby Heights where we saw some amazing houses decorated during Halloween. Finally, our last trip of the year will be a Scenic Drive on December 28th to English Bay. A favorite view point for many locals.
For those residents joining us for the Ladies’ Brunch, December 13th or Men’s brunch, December 27th, we will be cooking up a Pancake lunch with all the fixings. Other special meals for the holiday season will be served at dinner on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Eve. Let the Care staff know if you would like to join.
There will be many opportunities to enjoy and sing along to all the Christmas favorites. Our Music Therapist, Birgit, and our musically inclined volunteers, Glen, Hans, and Nancy will be in throughout the month. Also, we have a family caroling group with a range of ages on December 11th, and The Century House Choir with a large group of professional singers December 22nd. Lastly, Douglas, our regular sing along performer was happy to join us on Christmas day to bring joy to the residents with all the Christmas classics and some gospel songs.
