November is the month of Remembrance. We will be holding a Remembrance Day Ceremony the day before the statutory holiday on November 10th at 10:00 AM. You are welcome to join us as we pay tribute to fallen soldiers and veterans. The ceremony will be followed by some war time music with Chad Allan.
Everyone likes variety for their meals, so Recreation likes to offer residents an opportunity to enjoy special meals. For Ladies’ and Men’s Lunch we will be ordering in pizza from Me-n-Eds. Later in the month, the bus will be driving to the Pink Pearl for some of the best Chinese food in Vancouver. The kitchen also likes to prepare a special dinner at least once a month which family and friends are always welcome to join. Just connect with the Care staff and pay a small cost of $5 for lunch or $7 for dinner. This month a salmon dinner will be served on Nov.11th for Remembrance Day.
The bus will be heading out for two scenic trips this month, first to Queen Elizabeth Park, and second to Stanley Park. There is also one Lunch Outing, as mentioned above, to The Pink Pearl which is one of the most well-known Chinese restaurants in Vancouver. Another trip will take us to Maplewood Farms, where they will take us on a tour of their farm and introduce us to many of the farm animals they care for at the petting zoo.
With Christmas right around the corner we are preparing for “A Christmas to Remember” and Our Family Christmas Tea Socials. Look for posters and emails coming soon to get involved.
Family and friends are always welcome to attend our special events, such as Pub Night and Birthday Parties. Check the calendar for dates and times and join us for the live music, dancing with the residents and refreshments!
Stay dry this November,
Recreation & Volunteer Manager
