Family Day was first held in Canada in the province of Alberta in 1990. It is supposed to reflect the values of family and home that were important to the pioneers who founded Alberta, and give workers the opportunity to spend more time with their families. One of the reasons for introducing Family Day was that there was a long period when there were no holidays from New Year’s Day until Good Friday.
Recreation would like to wish everyone a wonderful Family Day, spending that quality time with your loved ones.
Also once known as the “Tuck Cart”! With the New Year, we thought we would spice things up and give the Tuck Cart a new and improved name. The Corner Store will still be held in the atrium every Monday and Thursday afternoon at 2:00pm until 3:00pm. There are lots of items for sale, chocolate bars, candy, trinkets, toothbrushes, and much more! Our Corner Store is run by wonderful volunteers from the Estate!
National Therapeutic Recreation Month is celebrated during February of each year. During Therapeutic Recreation Month there are opportunities to learn about Therapeutic Recreation and bring together Therapeutic Recreation practitioners to celebrate the field and accomplishments.
