Ground breaks on a unique, urban, multi-generational community in Seton

CALGARY – Seniors will have more options in Calgary thanks to the new Seton Seniors Community of Care and Wellness, which ceremonially broke ground on October 24, 2013.

“Seton Seniors Community will provide both Supportive Living Level 4 and Independent Living care and services in a single community setting,” says Dr. Hasmukh Patel, CEO of AgeCare Communities. “We are proud to have partnered with the Alberta government and Alberta Health Services to bring this unique seniors community in Calgary.”

“The Alberta government is committed to building safe, high-quality care spaces that meet the needs of seniors in our communities and that allow more senior couples to stay together,” said Alberta’s Associate Minister of Seniors, George VanderBurg. “We were pleased to support this project with an $8.6 million grant through our Affordable Supportive Living Initiative, and we’re excited to see construction getting underway.”

This vibrant community will be located across from the South Health Campus and in the core of the future Seton downtown and pedestrian friendly Market Street. Once fully developed, the community will also offer rental apartments for young professionals, families and individuals as well as seniors’ independent living market apartments. Offering adult day-support program and child day care services on site, Seton will be a comprehensive, multi- and inter-generational community. “This ‘living in place’ model allows our residents to continue living in a safe, home-like environment as their needs evolve,” says Dr. Kabir Jivraj, Managing Director of AgeCare Communities.

AgeCare has been designing and building innovative residential communities for over a decade. It aims to provide the best quality of life for each individual who chooses to make AgeCare Communities of Care and Wellness his or her home.
