The Care Worker
I wake them up, I get them dressed,
I brush their hair so they look their best
I make their bed and wash their clothes.
The little things that no – one knows.
I hold their hands when they are scared,
I talk to them when no – one’s there.
I give them a friend when they are alone,
I treat them like family, like one of my own.
And when it’s time to save a life,
I keep my heart strong, and hold my head high.
I wait `til it’s over, when everything’s done,
When the house has gone quiet, the emptiness comes
So please don’t judge me, when you think I don’t care
I look after your family, when you are not there.

Paula Anderson – General Manager
September is here and the recent storm is a clear reminder that fall is on its way. However, we still have some warm days left in the forecast and we will be taking advantage of our final days of summer.
Our weekly Scenic Bus Outings are scheduled to drive to Deep Cove, Buntzen Lake, Barnet Marine Park, and to tie in with our Country Fair theme week we will visit Maplewood Farms and have a lunch outing at ABC Country Restaurant.
On September 19th come rain or shine to our Silver Fox Carnival and help us raise money for the Terry Fox Foundation. It is a family event hosted by staff and residents of Harmony Court. There will be a BBQ lunch and lots of carnival themed games by donation, with live music from 1:00 to 2:00 with Neil Harnett and a raffle draw at the end of the event. We are hoping to beat last year’s fundraising efforts and reach $2,000!
With many live musical performances we will be welcoming or newest residents with Chad Allan, celebrating this month’s birthdays with Steve Warner and enjoying our two Thursday evening Pub Nights first with Sheryl Greenfield and then Brian Zalo.
Our Theme of the Week will be a good old Country Fair! The Silver Fox Carnival event fits the theme nicely. The residents will be having some fun with Horseshoe throwing and Horse Racing, but first we will have to craft our straw hats to fit the part and make some apple pie. Special Lunch for this week will be corn dogs, veggie chili and mini donuts.
Have a great September.
