October may be an adjustment with the cooler weather, but it is also a great month for delicious food and fun events.
For Ladies’ and Men’s Brunch we are serving up a special treat of a traditional turkey meal cooked by our Red Seal Chef, Curtiss. To make the most of it we will be inviting as many residents as we can fit in the Hearthstone Lounge for a big lunch gathering on the 4th and 18th.
There will be a Turkey Dinner being served for everyone on Sunday the 9th. If you would like to join us, please let the staff know ahead of time. We have a few extra rooms available that family can reserve to have more space for this dinner or any other gathering. Just contact Jessica in the Recreation Department.
Our first bus trip will take us on a Lunch Outing to Pasta Polo in Coquitlam. They serve fresh pasta and brick oven roasted pizza. Should easily be a hit. The following Bus Outing will take a group to Aldor Acres Pumpkin Patch. One of the farmers will join us on the bus and take us for a trip around the farm. We will stop to visit with the farm animals and share a pumpkin pie together. Before we leave, we will make sure we pick out some gourds and pumpkins for Harmony Court. The final trip of the month will be the perfect time to tour Burnaby for the some spooky houses, as they will be decorated for the upcoming trick or treaters.
Special events happening for the month include, Oktoberfest Pub Night, Mike’s Critters and a Halloween Party. For Oktoberfest we will transform the 2nd floor dining room and clap along to live accordion music by Peter Paulus. We have asked Mike to bring in his creepiest critters for October, so beware if you do not like spiders. Make sure you wear your costume if you are coming into the building on Halloween. Everyone loves a good costume and you can join our Halloween Monster Mash. We will have live music and tiger tail ice cream.
Have a spooktacular October.
