Welcome to March 2015. The Spring season is drawing near, I cannot believe how fast this very mild winter has went by. We are looking forward to starting to get outdoors more. For the month of March we have two scenic drives to Stanley Park and Buntzen Lake. Our special outing is to the Greater Vancouver Zoo, Aldergrove. Admission for each resident is $9.25. Please let me know if you would like your family member to attend and I will add them to the list. It will be a first come first serve basis. Our lunch outing will be the last Wednesday of the month going to Mr. Ho’s Wonton House on Kingsway in Burnaby. Families are always welcome to join us and meet us at the restaurant. Please let me know if you are interested in this.
Our theme week will be from March 15-21st. We are going with an Irish theme for St. Patrick’s Day. Please keep a close eye on the calendar. There will be Irish themed programs everyday such as decorating, trivia, crafts, special lunch, bingo, limericks, baking, word games and happy hour. We will be celebrating St. Patrick’s Day on Tuesday the 17th with a performance by the Eire Born Irish Dancers.
My goal for this month was to start to add more music entertainment programs to the calendar. I have tried to ensure that there is at least 1 entertainer each week. The entertainers we will be seeing this month are new performer David McNeil, Steve Hillis, Douglas Simpson, Richard Stepp, Hans Bravoort, Brian Gimbel, and Roland & Emma. Family and feriends are welcome to join us.
As always, your suggestions for program ideas are always welcome. Please come see me in my office or phone any time if you have any concerns, requests or feedback about recreation programming.
May the luck of the Irish be with you this month!
In February AgeCare announced that we were actively recruiting a new Care Centre Director of Care and new care service provider. With pleasure we announced that on Feb. 23/15 Cindy Kahlon-Dhaliwal accepted the position of DOC, an RN with many years of experience working in Senior’s care. Cindy has previously worked for AgeCare in Alberta and comes to the role with not only extensive care experiences but knowledge of AgeCare’s values. We would like to say that Cindy is an AgeCare employee and will work hand in hand with the General Manager to strengthen care services through the development and implementation of a Quality Improvement Plan.
Within the next week I am hoping to have the announcement of the new care service provider made for both the Care Centre and added care for the Estate. I would like to thank the 18 family members that came to an information meeting with regards to the new care service provider. The new provider will start on April 20, 2015 and the 2 candidate agencies have both submitted robust transition plans and we can see how the process will be seamless.
I would like to acknowledge AdvoCare with whom we have maintained a valued partnership in helping meet your care needs for the past four years.
Over the next few weeks you will see tree pruners, landscapers and parking lot line painters busy working to spruce up the grounds. This past week the ceiling on the 2nd floor has been painted.
