Dear residents and family members,
Will the Luck of the Irish be on our side and bring spring early this year?
Everyone at SkyPointe is looking forward to the spring season with new growth and warm days. February was a full month. Despite our outbreak, residents were able to participate in an array of programming. February was recreation therapy month, and the recreation team planned different programs that highlighted the importance of the therapeutic practices and the benefits of recreation and leisure. Residents celebrated Fat Tuesday with a Mardi Gras party in the Atirum; there were masks, beads, music and dancing.
March will be a busy month at SkyPointe. The AgeCare team will be working with its residents, staff, and family members to begin the transition for Hospice Care. This will be the first hospice program offering in in NE Calgary, allowing us to provide a peaceful and supportive environment for individuals nearing end-of-life. During the transition period, recreation staff has planned several different outings and programs to keep everyone busy.
The recreation team has planned two out of city outings; Banff and Strathmore. There are also Tim Horton’s outings booked for rrrrrolllll up the rim to win. There will be a KFC in house lunch and a fun St. Patrick’s Day party. The MJP Dance Studio will be back this year to perform some irish dancing for the residents. March is the month of music and the Pegasus Theater will showcase classic musicals.
During March, AgeCare will be participating in Staff Appreciation week. The first week of the month, SkyPointe staff will be appreciated for all their hard work and dedication that they show year round to our residents.
Please, take a look at our March newsletter and program calendars for upcoming programs and events. If you have any questions or concerns, please, contact (587)619-6317! Or stop by the recreation office. Our general office hours are 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday to Saturday.
Yours sincerely,
Marlee Dukart

SkyPointe residents from each neighbourhood created the Wings of Diversity. It is a testament to the diverse population and creativity SkyPointe has. Each feather is individually decorated in every color of the rainbow. The project was done to support and celebrate our population, which comes from all lifestyles and backgrounds. The project will be featured for the month of March. Residents, guests and staff can us the project as a picture background.
Each month, there will be a different code posted. This reviews the different safety standards and techniques used at SkyPointe.
