May flowers are just about here to stay! Unfortunately – during this time we are also experiencing OUTBREAK on a couple of our neighborhoods – which for Recreation means there will be no group programming held on those units unless a specific staff member has been assigned to the floor. We apologize for the cancellation of certain events that many of you were looking forward to. As outbreak continues, programs and events are subject to change without notice.
With warmer weather, Recreation will host more programs outdoors with the weather permitting; such as outdoor walks and preparing our gardens. Please be sure to be equipped with sunscreen, hats, sunglasses, coats, etc. We want everyone to be able to get out and enjoy the wonderful outdoors now that Spring is here. We will be celebrating Mother’s Day with a brunch buffet for all residents and families to enjoy. Please see Reception for more information and tickets (see link below for poster and menu). Our wonderful educators will be delivering some education to our residents on the 13th – come and learn about the topic of dementia. Pearle Vision will be in this month to host a clinic – so please be sure to mark your calendars to get those eyes checked out or those glasses tuned up. Some very exciting news – we are ready to roll out Happy Hour! We are starting with once a month (29th) and want to see all of our residents out enjoying a couple beverages while socializing with friends.
We have 2 outings to choose from this month – a country drive stopping for coffee at Tim’s and an day at Ikea to have some breakfast and do some shopping. For our foodies, we have 3 in-houses to choose from – Ginger Beef Chinese or Opa Greek for lunch and Cibo Italian for dinner. This month we will also start planning for gardening and what we would like to grow this year at SHC as well as in our own gardens.
Remember to come down to the ‘What’s Up in Recreation’ board for all your latest updates and to sign up for all those exciting outings and in-houses!
* For any questions or if you would like to sign your loved one up for something special – contact Carol Truong (Recreation Manager) 5873498453, firstname.lastname@example.org or stop in to Recreation and speak to a member of the team!
