Recreation Newsletter & Program Calendars

October 2019

It’s time to break out the scarves and mitts because fall has officially arrived!

Community outings are now being offered to the entire SkyPointe community. During the month of October, residents will have the opportunity to choose from a few different outing options. There will be a Stay on the Bus Drive on October 2nd for Long Term Care and Supportive Living, a trip to the Calgary Corn Maze open for residents from each floor on the 11th, and a Haunted Tour of Calgary for our Whitehorn residents on the 30th. Each resident must meet the Community Outing policy qualifications and have a signed consent form to attend an outing.

Residents can sign up for two different in house lunches. There will be a Swiss Chalet dinner on the 10th for Thanksgiving and a KFC in house on the 24th. Limited seating is available. Residents are encouraged to sign up with the recreation department as soon as possible.

The recreation department is celebrating the fearless Calgary Stampeders on October 5th with our 2nd Annual Tail Gate Party. Residents, family members and staff can enjoy a Hot Dog BBQ at 12:00 p.m. and watch the Stamps take on the Alouettes at 2:00 p.m. in the theater. Residents wanting to enjoy the BBQ must sign up with the recreation department or be accompanied by a family member or friend.

Flu season is upon us. To protect our residents and yourself this flu season please do not visit if you are sick. Residents have the option to receive the flu vaccination on October 17th. Residents and family members will be notified for consent.

SkyPointe will be hosting its annual Pumpkin Carving and Decorating Competition on the 31st. Residents and staff will compete for the spookiest, show stopper, and most creative pumpkin. Everyone is welcome to vote during the day!

Please, take a look at our September newsletter (below) and program calendars for upcoming programs and events.  If you have any questions or concerns, please, contact (587)619-6317! Or stop by the recreation office. Our general office hours are 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday to Saturday.

Yours sincerely,

Marlee Dukart, Recreation Therapy Manager
