Volunteer Spotlight: Valerie, AgeCare Valleyview

Valerie, more commonly known as Val, has been volunteering with AgeCare Valleyview for 8 wonderful years. Val is passionate about her volunteer role with AgeCare and is also a long-standing member of The Royal Canadian Legion.

Val first connected with AgeCare nearly a decade ago when she was visiting a friend who was a veteran. She spent time with him every day, as his family was only able to visit on weekends. After he passed, she decided to continue as a volunteer at the community as she truly enjoyed visiting with residents and the nursing staff.

Now, proudly in her 80’s, Val has led countless activities and fundraisers in her various volunteer roles, some resulting in noteworthy equipment donations including blood pressure devices and lifts.

Val is a dedicated volunteer, ready to assist with any need be it bingo, excursions, special events, fundraisers, decorating, or the weekly Knit and Knatter crafting group. Val is a caring advocate for many of the seniors living at AgeCare Valleyview and greatly misses the familiar connections during this time.
