Services

Supportive Living

(SL3 or SL4): A home-like setting for individuals who are unable to thrive in their own home. They require personal supports such as meals, housekeeping, laundry, recreation and social activities. An Alberta Health Services (AHS) Case Manager oversees all resident care and care plans. Supportive Living is appropriate for people whose health care needs are predictable and can be scheduled. In SL3 Health Care Aides (HCAs) are on-site 24 hours a day to provide support, scheduled personal care, and medication assistance. The HCAs report to a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or a Registered Nurse (RN), who are on-site periodically, but not all the time. In SL4 a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)and Health Care Aides(HCAs)are on-site 24 hours a day to provide support, scheduled personal care, and manage medications.

Dementia & Memory Care
Supportive Living Level 4 Dementia (SL4D) and Long-Term Care both offer a safe, secure, home-like setting for individuals with varying levels of dementia and memory difficulties (including Alzheimer’s).
Adult Day Program
Day programs for seniors who live at home, and who benefit from social and health-related programs. It also allows their caregivers to attend to other things.
Children's Day Care
On-site day care for children, which encourages multigenerational programming and allows our employees to be close to their children while at work.

The community

The perfect place to call home

Located in Brooks Alberta, AgeCare Sunrise Gardens is a vibrant, modern, amenity-rich community where seniors are the focus. This is not your typical community. Upon arrival, you will discover the bright soaring windows, cheerful color palate and attention to detail that makes this the perfect place to call home.

Creating a neighbourhood inside a community

Each floor and key resident room area receives a name that resonates with our residents. This assists them in finding their way back to their suites and makes each area of the building its own “neighbourhood.” A warm and welcoming neighbourhood feeling creates a foundation for friendship and a sense of belonging.

Some neighbourhoods are created for specialized care models, such as memory care. We do our best to ensure that our residents are living and enjoying life, in the best possible setting, designed for their needs.

We offer our residents

Convenient and centrally located administration offices with additional support on each floor at the communication centres in each neighbourhood.

  • A hair salon/barber shop, several cozy sitting areas and a large activity room on the main floor for every one’s enjoyment.
  • Safe, well designed courtyards that allow for a healthy outdoor lifestyle.
  • Fireplace lounges on each floor with flat screen televisions in each.
  • Well designed dining rooms on each floor to ensure the best possible dining experience for each individual and their specific needs.
  • Free guest parking.
  • Recreation and leisure programming that is designed to match the communities needs and interests.

Adult day program

Enriching the lives of seniors living at home

We all benefit greatly from staying active, being intellectually stimulated and socially connected. AgeCare Sunrise Garden’s Adult Day Support Program provides health, social and recreational support for seniors and needed respite for caregivers.

The day program has really taken a lot of stress off my mind. My mom really wants to stay in her home and wants her independence, but without the day program she doesn’t go out unless we take her, and she has very little interaction with others.

    Janice (daughter)

    Our adult day program offers:

    • A holistic approach to encompass the needs of the client, family, and caregivers
    • Recreation and socialization programs such as trivia, word games, reminiscing, crafts, movies, music, baking, current events discussions, board and card games
    • Educational programs for you and your family
    • Exercise
    • Hairdressing, by appointment
    • Nutritious lunch and snacks prepared by professional food services staff under the guidance of a registered dietitian
    • Medication assistance

Unique to AgeCare Sunrise Gardens is our inter-generational Grandfriends program, which brings residents together with schoolchildren from the adjacent Lion King Day Care. This rare and enriching partnership allows our seniors to mingle and interact regularly with the Lion King children and to enjoy a fulfilling array of programming that benefits all participants. Aptly named the “Grandfriends Program,” this blending of generations in a shared environment brings the joy of youth and optimism to our seniors and imparts the wisdom and history of our seniors to the Lion King children.
